S.T.E.A.M Workshops

Explore the intersections of art and science with these fun and exciting hands-on programs that are adapted to engage all ages, abilities, and learning styles. 25 participants (45-minute presentation) $175 first presentation +$125 per additional presentation.

  • Exploring Objects (Head Start, Kinder, Special Needs)  Identify and describe unique objects by using your  senses as you make meaningful connections in this  sense-ational program.
  •  Collections and Recollections (Adults and Senior Citizens) Every object has a story. This engaging  presentation showcases various objects that are  hidden away in our vault. Share your favorite stories  or objects in this engaging workshop.

S.T.E.A.M For Students

States of Matter (2nd & up) Matter is all around us but it doesn’t have to stay  the same.Investigate the properties of solids, liquids  and gases with a fun experiment.
Techno Jungle* (3rd & up) Use creativity skills to construct interactive creatures  with special powers using littleBits® modules. *1.5 hrs required.
Engineer it! (2nd & up)  Light up the day and learn how electricity works and  how it’s used in the field of electrical engineering.
Arts and Artifacts (1st & up) Discover the art, science, and history behind some  of the museum’s favorite teaching collection objects.
Making Structures (1st & up)  Put problem solving skills to the test by creating,  designing, and building towers with geometric shapes  to withstand an earthquake.

Auditorium Presentations

A live, interactive, art and science show, for large audiences (45-minute presentation) $300 first presentation + $200 per additional presentation.
The Science of Art (All Ages) Artists are scientists too! Blend both worlds and see  how science encompasses art with a live presentation  that features polymers, polarity, pigments and more!

Animal Presentations

Meet three of our ambassador animals and explore theirimportant roles on our planet. These programs are designed to sharpen sensory and observation skills. 25 participants (45-minute presentation) $125 first presentation +$100 per additional presentation.
Ecosystem Explorations (PK-2nd)  Examine how animals depend on plants and other animals for food and the importance of maintaining a balanced ecosystem.
Animal Adaptations (3rd & up)  Focus on the adaptations, body structures, and  behaviors of animals by exploring animal growth and adaptations.

IMAS Mobile Planetarium

*IMAS Mobile Planetarium was made possible by

IMAS brings the universe to you with our portable planetarium! Full-dome presentations take participants on incredible adventures throughout the galaxy. Whether you want to visit the moon or shoot for the stars, our presentations are fun for all ages.

Choose either the Night Sky Option or a Video Option and one activity! 50 participants (per hour session).$150 first presentation +$100 per additional presentation.

Night Sky Option

A live, interactive planetarium show, with an educator, that takes you through the night sky and beyond. Get a view of the Sun, the Moon, constellations and planets.

Video Options

Cosmic Castaways (K & up) 21min. Most stars lie within the boundaries of vast galaxies, but some find themselves alone deep within voids.  These are the Cosmic Castaways.
Two Small Pieces of Glass (2nd & up) 23 min. Learn how the telescope has helped us understand  our place in space and how telescopes continue to  expand our understanding of the Universe.
Sunstruck! (4th & up) 21 min. Travel back to the beginning of time and experience  the birth of the sun. Discover how it came to support  life,how it threatens life as we know it, and how its  energy will one day fade away.

Activity

Sky Stories (PK-1st)  Introduces students to the pictures and stories of  some Greco-Roman constellations, as well as reasons  why constellations were created. Students will trace  and create their own constellations.
Stellar Lunar (2nd -5th)  This lesson explores stars, constellations, and the phases  of the moon. Students will create a model of the earth,  moon, and sun system.
Mars (6th-8th)  This lesson explores how to recognize the “Red Planet”  in the sky, what makes Mars interesting, and past and  future exploration missions to this planet and beyond.  Students will act as engineers as they construct their  own balloon powered rover.
Spectacular Spectroscopy (9th-12th)  This lesson explores how we know what we know  about our universe by learning about Greco-Roman  times, the 17th century, and the late 19th century to  today. Using light decoders, students will experience  how astronomers analyze the gases that make up the  stars and planets.
Astronaut Training (All Ages)  Blast off into space and improve your dexterity  and coordination by training like an astronaut.

SCIENCEPALOOZA

Participants will rotate through a series of 10 science activities that include the following five preselected activities: Earthquakes*, Rock I.D*, Bugs!, Cloud in a Bottle, and Density.

And a choice of five of the following:

• Fossils*
• Air Pressure
• Adaptations*
• Energy
• The Solar System
• Rockets
• Instant Snow*
• Chemical Reactions
• Polymers
• Circuits*
• Magnets*

Princing: $400/Half-Day    $700/Full-Day

MAS will supply all of the materials for the activities and you supply the volunteers to help teach. Festival location must provide: 10 tables and chairs, 12 volunteer minimum (please ask volunteers to arrive at least 30 minutes before event for training), a large open space (library, cafeteria, gym), and electrical outlets.

Artpalooza

Participants will rotate through a series of 10 art activities that include the following five preselected activities: Art Medium Touch Table*, Printmaking, Spirograph, Color of Light*, Puzzling Art.

And a choice of five of the following:

• Mosaics
• Bubble Art
• Group Mural
• Storyboard Creations
• Weaving*
• Sculpt It!*
• Rubbing Station
• Still Life
