Microscape

May 11, 2024 - August 25, 2024

Exhibitions are free with General Admission.

The International Museum of Art & Science presents a Studio Art Quilts Associates (SAQA) global exhibition, Microscape.

Our known world stretches far beyond what we can see with the unaided eye. Microscopes, magnifying glasses, and virtual imaging techniques reveal a world of great beauty and complexity. That world contains the smallest particles, tiniest organisms, smallest landscape, natural details, and provides us with an abundance of artistic inspiration. Artists in this exhibition were encouraged to explore a corner of the world at high magnification, capturing tiny wonders at the microscopic level, or by zooming in on a larger object to show its smallest details.

SAQA is a nonprofit organization based in Hebron, Connecticut whose mission is to promote the art quilt, and whose vision is that the art quilt is universally respected as a fine art medium. Over the past 30 years, SAQA has grown into a dynamic and active community of over 4,000 artists, curators, collectors, and art professionals located around the world.

This exhibition was created by Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. and is supported in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.
