Screen It: Youth Identity Through Art brings students from Buell Central Discipline Alternative Education Program and local screen-printers Palo Santo Prints together at the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) to learn the creative and technical processes of screen printing, equipping students with the important technical skills utilized in the field of printmaking. The Screen It program is able to fund the artists from Palo Santo Prints to work directly with the at-risk students from Buell in a 3-day workshop series to produce prints for an exhibition of the students’ works at IMAS which resulted in the Screen It: Youth Identity Through Art exhibition.

This experience is a unique opportunity for these students from Buell Central to gain access to immersive art experiences that include both the content of the IMAS collections, and the opportunity to learn from the expertise of practicing artist working in the field, and applying their knowledge learned in the workshops under the guidance of the artists from Palo Santo Prints., These workshops will providing a connection between this art media the process of screen-printing and the art the students create using the same process.

Screen It: Youth Identity Through Art is made possible by a the Arts Respond Grant from Texas Commission on the Arts – Arts Respond with support from Texas Women for the Arts.
