Group Artist Statement

Visual Artists Camp exhibit is a collection of artworks created by campers who attended this summer’s Visual Artists Operation Imagination camp. The IMAS offered a space that ignited new ideas and ways of art making in an atmosphere where young artists could thrive. They were encouraged to create from their imagination and express their individuality as they explored different art techniques and media such as printmaking, charcoal drawing, as well as acrylic and watercolor painting. The artists also took inspiration from exhibits and the IMAS permanent collection by taking in the surroundings of the museum. Items from Mexican and Latin American Folk Art and specimens from the vault as well as influence from nature and our solar system found their way into the art in this student exhibition.
