We’re open! The IMAS is operating at a 25% capacity for safe social distancing, masks are required for all visitors (3+) and staff, and the IMAS encourages visitors to purchase a ticket (currently reduced to $1, ages 4+) in advance to reserve a time slot

Art galleries, MPU BioZone, the sculpture garden, Museum Shop, and courtyard are all open to visitors at this time. High-touch spaces remain closed for the health and safety of our visitors. These include Seed to Table, View Space and Water Journey.

Let’s get moovin’ and groovin’ with our special guest from Nadia’s School of Dance! A limited number of drum containers are available for pick up at the museum from October 21-23 during open hours.

November 24: Healthy Habits
Let’s get tastefully creative! Join us to create healthy snack ideas and learn about healthy habits to do at home.
December 29: Marshmallow Snowflakes
Let it snow at the IMAS! Join us as we make snowflakes out of marshmallows and pretzels! Kits available at the museum for $3 (discount for Members).
Spooky Science at IMAS with BBVA

Celebrate all that is spooky and weird with the IMAS after school this coming Halloween week. Register online here for a free Spooky Science kit.  Then tune on the IMAS Facebook for a live science workshop.

Learn how to make intricate patterns on colorful tissue paper inspired by traditional Mexican papel picado. Put together a celebratory banner for Día de los Muertos to hang in your home! Tune in to the IMAS Facebook page Wednesday, October 28th for the LIVE workshop. A limited number of kits provided upon registration. Workshop Wednesdays are sponsored by H-E-B Helping Here.

Note: Kit pickup is Saturday, October 24 from 10 AM-1 PM and 2-5 PM via curbside at the Museum.

Virtual Dia de los Muertos Celebration Nov 1 with IMAS

Join us for a Virtual Día de los Muertos Celebration, and visit the museum on free admission days. The IMAS is operating at a 25% capacity for safe social distancing, masks are required (ages 3+), and we encourage our guests to purchase a ticket in advance to reserve their visit time slot. Art galleries, MPU BioZone, the sculpture garden, Museum Shop, and courtyard are all open to visitors at this time. High-touch spaces remain closed for the health and safety of our visitors. These include Seed to Table, View Space and Water Journey.

Free celebration bags will include sugar skull decoration kits and art supplies for families participating online at home.

Earth Optimism 2020 Digital Summit for Teens

In collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution, RGV teens are invited to participate in Earth Optimism at IMAS. Participating teens (ages 13-18) will be able to borrow video equipment and editing software to create a short 2-minute video to submit to the Teens Dream Video Competition and winning videos will be screened in Washington, DC in 2021 through the Smithsonian’s Earth Optimism initiative.
