Dia de los Muertos Festival & Market
Sunday, October 10, 2021
1:00-5:00 PM at the IMAS

Join the museum for our annual Día de los Muertos Festival, including a market featuring regional artists and artisans, on October 10 from 1-5 p.m. This lively event will include a performance by nationally and internationally recognized UTRGV Ballet Folklórico, and a display of altars created by community organizations. Activities include papel picado, butterfly shadowbox, and Lotería. Sugar skull decorating will be available for an additional cost of $2 per participant (limited supply).

Dia de los Muertos Community Altars: Civic Leaders

The IMAS invites the community to celebrate Dia de los Muertos by visiting the community altars exhibit this fall. The altar exhibit will include ofrendas on display at the IMAS from October 6 through November 6, 2021. This year’s theme for community altars is Civic Leaders. Altars will honor individuals who became leaders by humbly serving their community.

Museum from Home workshops are an at-home experience for students to go in depth on specific art or science concepts. A live Zoom webinar is hosted by an IMAS Educator to lead participants through a hands-on lesson. Supplies are included in an activity kit to be picked up via curbside prior to the workshop date.
