McAllen, TX – The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) and McAllen Public Utility (MPU) are excited to announce the Back to School Bash, an immersive event that celebrates the new school year with a fusion of art, science, and community engagement. Scheduled for Saturday, August 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., this exciting event will feature a wide range of activities and community partner booths to delight attendees of all ages.
“What better way to kick off the new academic school year than the Back to School Bash?”, says Katia Sanchez, Water Education & Communications Coordinator at McAllen Public Utility. “MPU is thrilled to be collaborating with IMAS in this exciting event to promote community engagement and to inspire the future leaders of tomorrow.”

In addition to the engaging activities, the Back to School Bash will feature community partner booths at the Welcome Pavilion and Discovery Pavilion. Attendees can explore and connect with various organizations dedicated to education, healthcare, arts, and community services. Partners include Luna Dental, Valley Symphony Orchestra, Happy Heads, PNC Bank, Raising Canes, McAllen ISD and more. Visitors can enjoy StarLab Planetarium presentations throughout the event.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 19, and join IMAS for a day of art, science, and fun-filled activities. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. McAllen residents will receive free admission to the event, while non-residents will be invited to attend by purchasing general admission tickets. Public school educators (PreK-12th) always receive free admission with a valid school ID. As a Blue Star Museum, IMAS grants free admission to active military and up to five family members with a military ID all summer through Labor Day.
