IMAS Recipient of Corning Incorporated Grant Supporting School Visits

McAllen, TX- The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) is honored to be the first recipient of a $5,000 grant from the South Texas Chapter of the Corning Incorporated Foundation. Corning Connects will provide an opportunity for underserved school children from South Texas to visit the IMAS for transformative field experiences at the museum. With the support of Corning, student groups from area schools can visit at no cost for an IMAS educator-led, hands-on visit with content in science, art, and culture.

“The IMAS mission is to empower learners to discover their interests and pursue their passions, and with the support of Corning Incorporated Foundation we are thrilled to remove the financial barriers and bring new school groups into the museum for enriching educational field experiences,” stated Ann Fortescue, President and Executive Director.

Corning Connects will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to area schools. Eligible schools may request a field trip reservation to visit the museum and the per student tour price will be funded directly by the grant from Corning Incorporated Foundation South Texas chapter. School groups may request tours from available dates in November, December, April, or May of this academic year.

The application to request a grant-funded visit to the museum is available at https://theimasonline.org/corning-connects now. Public school K-12 groups who have not had a field trip to IMAS in three or more years are eligible to apply.
