Now in its third year the show has grown to 95 total participating artists submitting over 140 works of art, 114 of which were juried into the show. This year the museum invited partners from South Texas College as jurors for the show, Gina Otvos, Library Art Gallery Coordinator, and Melissa D. Terry, Art History Instructor.
“We are honored and humbled to serve as the jurors for the MJAS 2023. We express our gratitude to IMAS and its members for their continuous support of community artists and for being a trusted partner of South Texas College,” says Gina Otvos. “During the selection process, we looked for works that could surprise, challenge, and encourage us to think in new ways. This year, IMAS members submitted a diverse range of creative works that not only inspired us but also left a lasting impact on us.”
“It was such a pleasure to serve as jurors for this year’s Member’s Juried Art Exhibit! Seeing the breadth of artistic talent and creativity in our community was inspiring,” says Melissa D. Terry. “We were excited to see some new perspectives and approaches to the creation of art in the valley. We thank IMAS and participating artists for entrusting us with this honor and look forward to more collaborations between South Texas College and IMAS in the future!”
The Members’ Juried Art Show will be on exhibit at the IMAS in the Cardenas Gallery through January 28, 2024. The community is invited to visit the exhibit and witness firsthand the artistic talent and diversity of our local member artists.
